A dark tone was chosen for this super hero, with humanity and realism being the basis of the film. The goal was to get the audience to care for both Batman and Bruce Wayne...and care we did!
Developing a phobia for bats after falling into a disused well and witnessing his parents murder did not bode well for a normal childhood as Bruce Wayne grew up under the care of Alfred, the butler of Wayne mansion. In a plan to impress his childhood friend Rachel he embarks on an extended journey and eventually becomes a student of the Ra's al Ghul and His League of Shadows. Bruce uncovers a plot by them to destroy Gotham City as Ra's works with the criminal Falcone and his undercover infiltrator Crane who possess a device that will destroy the water supply of Gotham City and at the same time emit a vapour that causes extreme paranoid psychosis. Returning to Gotham and discovering the extent of his business Wayne Enterprises, he adapts the persona of a bat to conceal his identity as the crime fighter that he becomes. Wayne mansion burns, the criminals are at large, Rachel, Batman and the police come under the influence of the psychosis and it would appear Gotham City is all but lost!

THE DARK KNIGHT
Genre: Super Hero, Action, Drama
Rating: M Frequent Action Violence
Cast: Christopher Nolan, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Heath ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman
Director: Christopher Nolan
The second of the trilogy. Nolan's inspiration for the film was the Joker's comic book debut in 1940, and the 1996 series The Long Halloween, which retold Two-Face's origin.
Batman raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organisations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker. This criminal's intuitive use of the frailty of human emotions deploys explosive scenarios that ravages the hearts of Dent, Batman and Gordon with many casualities. Dent sustaining horrific injuries to one side of his face. Nothing remains but to trust fate as Dent flips a coin to determine the destiny of others in what appears to have become a heartless world. Batman convinces Gordon to hold him publicly responsible for Dent's murders so that Dent will remain a symbol of hope for the city, a matyr!
